Chapter 1: Introduction to AI Art Creation
While browsing my Facebook feed recently, I stumbled upon a Reddit post showcasing a painting titled “Abandoned Civilization.” This artwork is an AI-generated reinterpretation of the iconic Mona Lisa, composed of nine distinct images that collectively pay homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece.
Upon first glance, I was both intrigued and captivated by the painting's unique aesthetic. What was the process behind its creation?
After some online research and personal experimentation, I discovered that I could replicate this artwork in just four straightforward steps. But first, let’s take a look at the final product.
Isn't it impressive? Now, grab your iPhone or iPad, and let's dive into the steps.
Section 1.1: Step 1 - Acquire a High-Resolution Image
To begin, I sourced a high-resolution image of the Mona Lisa. Pinterest was my go-to, but a simple Google search would suffice as well.
Section 1.2: Step 2 - Divide the Image into Nine Parts
Since our goal is to create a cohesive piece from nine individual images, the next step is to segment the Mona Lisa image. I utilized the default Photos app on my iPad for this task. By entering edit mode and slightly adjusting the crop, gridlines become visible, allowing for precise cuts.
Take a screenshot of each section and save them. Following this method, you should end up with nine distinct images ready for AI generation.
Subsection 1.2.1: Step 3 - Generate Art Using AI
For the next step, I turned to the Wombo AI app. Ensure you download the app on your iPad, as the web version does not permit image uploads. Within the app, I inputted "future of machines" as my text prompt and selected the Steampunk art style. Feel free to customize the prompt and style to match your vision. After hitting the Create button, the AI will generate the artwork in a matter of seconds.
Repeat this step for all nine images you obtained from Step 2. Here’s how mine turned out:
Subsection 1.2.2: Step 4 - Compile the Final Artwork
The last stage involves piecing together the generated images. You can utilize a variety of software tools for this purpose, including Photoshop, Canva, or Procreate. In my case, I opted for Procreate, as it was readily available on my device.
And that’s it! You’re now ready to experiment with the Wombo app, tweak settings, or even use different reference images to create even more stunning pieces. Your imagination is the only limit!
Chapter 2: Reflecting on AI and Traditional Art
The video titled "Generate Stunning AI Art On Your Phone!" provides a comprehensive walkthrough of the process discussed above, showcasing how effortlessly one can create beautiful art using AI technology.
Additionally, the video "How you can use an AI Art Generator to help repair an old photo. Easy Diffusion" highlights another fascinating application of AI art generators, illustrating their potential beyond just original creations.
Final Thoughts
While the advancements in AI technology excite me and suggest a revolution within the art world, I also harbor concerns for traditional artists.
Is traditional artistry superior to AI-generated creations? It’s a complex debate, as each form of art has its own merits and limitations. My hope is that these technological innovations will enhance the work of real artists rather than overshadow their efforts, preserving the joy of traditional art forms.
