Discover the Power of Keeping Your Plans to Yourself

Chapter 1: The Age of Oversharing
In today's world, where information is abundant, there's a compelling urge to engage in a relentless cycle of sharing our lives with others. Social media platforms are overflowing with updates: announcements about home purchases, pregnancy news, and work promotions. It's a continuous race to catch up with people we may not even have intended to stay connected with.
While staying informed can be enjoyable, it is often unnecessary to keep everyone in the loop about every little detail of our lives. This realization led me, over the past few years, to shift from a “show and tell” mentality to a more straightforward “it’s already done” approach. I choose to share my endeavors only after they are complete. For instance, my husband and I eloped, and no one was aware until after the fact. I completed a book and only revealed it a week prior to its launch. I even relocated across the country without announcing it until the day before our departure.
In each of these instances, only a handful of people were aware of my plans before I made them public on social media. There is something profoundly liberating about keeping your aspirations private until they are realized. When no one knows what you're working towards, they can't dampen your enthusiasm with negativity.
What have I learned from this reduced communication about my goals?
With less external noise, I found it easier to visualize my aspirations clearly. I could devote my energy and focus to what truly mattered to me. It becomes much simpler to ignore the critics when they aren't even aware of your pursuits.
In essence, I discovered tranquility.
Therefore, my unsolicited advice for you is to work quietly. Let your accomplishments speak for themselves, leaving others to ponder how you achieved them.
