To be candid, life had been overwhelming me lately. The mounting responsibilities and persistent anxiety were consuming my focus throughout the day. However, on a rainy Saturday afternoon in June, I was reminded of the importance of meditation and how essential it is for my well-being.
As I settled onto my couch, with my feet planted firmly on the ground, I recalled the simple joys that meditation brings into my life. I realized that when I take the time to turn inward, I often recognize that I am managing better than I usually give myself credit for.
This year has undoubtedly been a challenging one, and I suspect many can relate. Yet, when I paused to reflect, I began to appreciate my own resilience, hard work, and growth in the face of adversity.
Meditation highlights the bliss found in mindful breathing and bodily awareness. It encourages slowing down, a task that's often easier said than done, but in that moment, I understood how crucial it was. The act of inhaling deeply through my nose seemed to invigorate every cell within me.
I experienced profound satisfaction in directing my breath to various parts of my body, and soon I felt my energy expand beyond my physical form. I was reminded that I could release my childish tendencies and embrace a more mature mindset.
At times, I feel overwhelmed, thinking it's just too difficult to cope. However, through meditation, I remind myself that I only need to do my best, and I am indeed capable of achieving it. This aligns with the wiser self I referenced earlier—akin to the parable of the two wolves, where meditation allows me to nurture the positive side.
In the midst of a tumultuous year, I rediscovered the simple joys that arise when I choose to simply be. I encourage you to make meditation a regular practice in your life; it seems more essential now than ever.
I will continue to dedicate time to breathe and immerse myself in the bliss of my breath and body, renewing my sense of energy. Give it a try; some of the most rewarding experiences often come when we least expect them.
