Hello, friends and fellow online business enthusiasts! The concept of success in business is incredibly significant, particularly when it comes to online ventures that you nurture independently. While I could delve into strategies for succeeding in any job, there’s a distinct difference between working for someone else and building your own business from the ground up.
In my experience, online businesses, particularly in the realm of social media, differ from other entrepreneurial endeavors. I have embraced YouTube as my primary occupation, complemented by blogging on my website and Medium, along with operating a sticker and planner shop. I prefer not to label it simply as a sticker shop, as I am keeping my options open for future opportunities.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, "How To Succeed At Home and In Life," success is subjective; each person has unique goals. Some aim for financial gain, while others seek creative fulfillment or wish to make a contribution to society. Your journey is shaped by your experiences, age, knowledge, and aspirations, and there are countless paths to achieving your personal definition of success.
Let’s explore some of the strategies that have led to my success, whether big or small, because every victory deserves recognition.
Section 1.1: The Importance of Taking That First Step
I Started.
It might sound straightforward, but starting is often the hardest part. Many individuals hesitate to begin because they fear imperfection. However, there is a crucial distinction between striving for perfection and giving your best effort. Perfection is subjective and can hinder your growth. Sometimes, the key to progress is simply getting the ball rolling. Reflecting on my journey three years ago, I would never have predicted the diverse activities I’m currently engaged in. The early days were filled with uncertainty, and the pressure was overwhelming. I often felt discouraged, questioning whether I would make any real progress.
I Persisted.
Continuing when faced with challenges is far more difficult than quitting. I frequently felt like giving up in those initial stages. The early phase of any venture demands extensive research and effort. Having a support system is invaluable; it’s important to have someone to brainstorm with and lean on during tough times. Looking back, I’m grateful I didn’t quit despite my anxiety. After some adjustments, I discovered my niche, and now I feel fortunate to do what I love every day, with financial success being a delightful bonus.
Section 1.2: The Power of Planning
Plan Your Work.
As many of you know, I am an ardent supporter of using planners. Throughout my life, I’ve experimented with various planning systems, continually seeking what works best for me. Planner peace, for me, doesn’t mean sticking to one method; it’s about adapting my planner to fit my needs.
When I talk about having a plan, I mean developing a comprehensive strategy for all aspects of your business. This includes setting goals that align with your values, creating a schedule, planning content, marketing, and managing administrative tasks. Some prefer digital organization, while I thrive with a physical planner, as it forms the backbone of my business.
Subsection 1.2.1: Scheduling for Success
Establish a Schedule.
Scheduling is crucial. Determine when you will work on your business and whether different tasks will be allocated to specific days. Over the past three years, my schedule has evolved due to various life changes, including the arrival of my daughter. Initially, I had to reduce my video output from six to three per week, but as she grew, I gradually increased my content again.
My weekly tasks encompass:
- Writing Blogs
- Editing/Proofreading
- Posting/Scheduling
- Marketing
- Filming and Preparing Videos
- Designing Stickers
- Managing Finances
Here are four key decisions I made:
Batch Tasks.
I focus on completing one type of task at a time, such as designing multiple sticker sheets in one session. This method is efficient and saves time.
Theme Days.
Assign themes to different days to streamline your workflow. For instance, dedicate Mondays to journaling and blog transfers, while Tuesdays can focus on sticker design.
Rest on Sundays.
Allow yourself a day off for self-care and relaxation. Engage in activities that rejuvenate you, free from work-related thoughts.
Limit Social Media Platforms.
In the vast landscape of social media, spreading yourself too thin can be counterproductive. I concentrate on a select few platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon, Medium, and my website.

Regardless of your business type, the digital age necessitates utilizing social media for marketing. Although your business may not revolve around social media, it’s a powerful tool for outreach. While it’s wise to limit your platform usage, consider hiring help for marketing efforts. Tools like Asana or Trello can facilitate remote collaboration.
Social media platforms often come equipped with store management features, allowing for seamless marketing and sales. You can promote your brand from the comfort of your home and encourage cross-promotion across platforms.
Lastly, resist the temptation to compare yourself to others. There will always be individuals with polished content. Use their work for inspiration instead of self-doubt. Remember, you have a unique voice and perspective that your audience will appreciate.
Brainstorm Regularly.
Dedicate time to generate new ideas. Engaging with others can spark creativity, and keeping a notebook handy for spontaneous thoughts is beneficial. Collaboration, even with friends or family, can lead to exciting new concepts.
