Exploring the Performance of ChatGPT vs. Bard in Content Creation
Written on
Chapter 1: Introduction to AI in Content Creation
The influence of AI-generated content on SEO is a topic of great interest, especially as businesses increasingly turn to these technologies.
In my personal journey of managing a website, I've successfully attracted 6,000 monthly visitors over the span of two years. As both an SEO expert and a content creator, I leverage my expertise to enhance my website's visibility and revenue through varied strategies. My experiments aim to uncover effective methods that facilitate growth.
As AI technologies become more mainstream, the implications for businesses remain largely uncertain. This prompted me to conduct experiments focusing on AI's role in SEO. Specifically, I published articles produced and optimized with the help of ChatGPT, Bard, and Frase.io. My goal was to evaluate their performance in organic search and determine if AI-generated content could effectively rank on Google. For more details on my findings, you can explore my previous reports.
Section 1.1: Performance of ChatGPT-Generated Articles
I aim to assess how well articles created by ChatGPT fare in organic search results. If you own a website and utilize ChatGPT for content, these findings could provide insights into potential outcomes. If you're running an agency and employing content creators, itβs vital to ensure they don't solely rely on AI-generated material, as this could hinder your returns on investment.
To provide context, my website has a two-year history and an authority score of 28 out of 100, according to Ahrefs. This score indicates a moderate level of authority. More than 70% of my pages generate organic traffic due to an effective keyword research strategy. I do not purchase backlinks or guest posts; my link profile has grown steadily over time.
Section 1.2: ChatGPT Content and Its Limitations
I firmly believe that while AI-generated content can be beneficial, it often lacks the depth and personality found in human-written articles. However, it can perform well when targeting low-competition keywords. For example, the keyword "SEO for contractors" has a difficulty score of 2/100, making it less competitive but still valuable due to its transactional intent.
After investing several hours in using ChatGPT for content creation and optimization, I launched an article on March 9, 2023, without making any subsequent changes. The article's performance has remained stable, ranking for a few target keywords in the 24th position or lower.
Chapter 2: The Power of Combined Efforts
The first video, Do People Prefer Content Written By ChatGPT or Bard?, discusses the audience's preferences between content generated by these two AI tools. The insights shared in this video can help understand the qualitative differences between AI-generated articles.
As I experimented with integrating my insights and experiences into AI-generated content, I found that this combination tends to yield more successful results than relying solely on AI. The collaboration between AI and human input appears to be the future of content creation and marketing.
I have co-authored several articles using ChatGPT, focusing on definition writing, FAQ sections, and tool comparisons. Below, I share insights on two such articles, neither of which has shown negative performance trends.
Section 2.1: Bard-Generated Articles
I also employed Google's AI Chatbot Bard to create an article about Robinize, an SEO tool for on-page optimization. This article was generated and published on June 8, 2023, targeting a keyword with a difficulty score of 0/100.
Despite being a new article, its impressions have been gradually increasing. Within a month and a half, it managed to appear on the first and second pages of Google search results.
The second video, ChatGPT vs. Bard vs. Grok: Identical Prompts, Diverse Responses - Who Wins?, illustrates how different AI models respond to the same prompts, offering valuable insights into their comparative strengths.
Section 2.2: Insights and Conclusion
In conclusion, the content that shows the highest potential and performance is that which combines AI and human creativity. Such content closely resembles human writing, making it indistinguishable upon reading. This method is not only quicker but also more cost-effective.
While many reputable websites may use AI tools, they often go unchecked by AI detectors. I plan to continue utilizing AI to enhance my writing efficiency while adhering to my core principles of honesty and value addition.
